Meet the Owner | Oly Elderkin

Hi, I’m Oly! I moved here from Connecticut in 2020 and instantly fell in love with Maine’s peaceful, beautiful landscapes. Starting a family here made me realize that while the quiet charm is wonderful, it can feel a little isolating when you’re chasing toddlers on long hikes alone or making hours-long drives just to play. When trips to the local stores became our main family outings, I knew it was time to create the kind of village we all dream of as parents—a place where families can connect, play, and grow together.

I have two passions in life: helping people heal as a lab tech at our local hospital, and cherishing my family. I’m so excited to invite you and your little ones to become part of our growing family here too!

Meet the Director | Gary Dennison

Hi! I’m Gary! Some people know me for my size or my beard, but many know me from the work I’ve done around our community over the past 20+ years, doing what I love most—helping people.

I was born and raised right here in East Machias, so I understand both the charm of our town and the challenges families face when it comes to finding places for kids to play—especially during Maine’s long winters and mosquito-filled summers. When I decided to raise a family in the same town I grew up in, it became clear how important it is to have a local space where kids can explore, imagine, and just be kids—without families needing to travel far.

As Director, my goal is simple: to greet every child and caregiver with a smile and help create a welcoming, community-centered space built around play, creativity, and connection. Because play isn’t just fun—it’s how communities grow.
